In advance of the context research a product concept was made. In advance a concept was designed to fit the need of the rural areas of Konkan concerning clean drinking water.
With this concept in mind the context research was set-up to view if this product could fit the context.
A solar water still was designed. It is a double-staged distillation tower added on top of an pressure cooker. This pressure cooker is heated by a solar concentrator: the solar cooker.

As a result of the context research the product concept strength and weaknesses are concluded.
These strengths and weaknesses are only product focused, whether the product will fit the market is excluded from these as there is concluded there is no real problem concerning clean drinking water in the rural areas of Konkan.
Strength:
- Desalination of seawater as an alternative drink water source.
- Use of existing cooking products
- High potential for cultural fitting, modular fitting.
Weakness:
- Expensive
- Not user friendly (students)
- High maintenance (to keep high efficiency)
- Lack of solar cookers (Bapat, students)
